Detox Recap
Let’s start with a quick recap. I was having some struggles still loosing weight after a baby (2 years ago) and some other health issues that I brought to the attention of my doctor. It was suggested that I possibly have a problem with yeast and mold and while I was working out and eating healthy I was just simply eating incorrectly for my body and at the wrong times. I have started a food journey that is more Keto based to help fix my eating habits and get rid of the yeast and mold. I started a detox to jumpstart that process. The detox I’ve been doing is called 30 Day Tummy Detox.

My 30 Day Detox Results
Here is it, the awesome truth you’ve been waiting for…. I lost 10lbs!! TEN POUNDS. Now for some of you, maybe you loose weight quick, I don’t. I lost 5lbs the first week, which I was shocked by! At first I just thought it must be water weight, but the scale keeps steadily declining each day by about a 1lb. After that week, I stopped loosing so quickly and every few days a 0.5 or 1lb would be gone until I’ve landed today over 10lbs gone! This is the first time in 2 years I have seen any kind of weight loss result no matter what I ate or how hard I worked out, so this is really big for me. I did some small workouts, but not doing the HITT workouts like I planned, so I lost 10lbs on almost pure diet with my detox tea.
I feel good, like really good! I have an almost cleaner feeling. My stomach issues have gotten better each week and I defintely less bloated. My skin fluctuated. It started to look clearer, brighter and smoother and then BAM got really bad. All the sudden at week 3 it cleared up again and now it is as flawless as it has ever been post-pregnancy. I thought I was going to have a huge issue with just having tea in the morning without food, but I don’t. I don’t even find myself thinking about food until around lunchtime most days. That is the total opposite of how I used to be by the way!

During and Almost After Photos
A few nights ago we went to Universal Studios for a bit and my husband snapped the second photo below of me picking out wand. I know the photos are two different angles, but I can see a huge difference in my face from the 1st photo from two weeks ago. Wearing the same shorts in both pictures the first picture they were much tighter and a snug fit. The other night they were looser by about an inch! (yes both photos are at Universal!!)
What I Ate
Morning
We meal planned as much as possible and I did stick with it for the most part. I basically skipped breakfast most days to accomplish my intermittence fasting goal. The days I did have breakfast it was eggs with spinach, avocado, or something similar. Honestly I only ate breakfast a handful of times. I had my tummy toner tea every morning usually steeping the leaves twice for two cups a day. It is so delicious and I already ordered more! I take it on the go with me now along with drinking loads of vinegar detox water. This really helped me with my coffee addiction and staying full longer. All day long I tried to drink as much water as possible.
Afternoon
For lunch I eat with my toddler son, so I try to eat basically the same thing he did. Often it was leftovers from dinner, but days I didn’t have a leftover I made a spinach salad, vegetables or used an approved fruit to make a smoothie. Today I had leftovers, which was chicken roasted with squash, red peppers and tomato. It was actually really good and I ate a grapefruit as my “dessert”.
For snacks I have been making smoothies with a small amount of approved berries, spinach, matcha, and tummy greens. I will use a small amount of stevia if they come out too bitter. Some days I used an avocado or almond butter others just ice and water. I have also had half an avocado or a hard boiled egg as snacks.
Evening
For dinners I found recipes online that I tweaked to make fit my personal food journey. Not all “diets” are one size fits all so keep that in mind. That is another reason I’ve been using food journey instead of diet. I tailor the recipes I find or ones I already know to fit how we are trying to eat. For simple dinners I have been making a meat like roast chicken with a variety of vegetables and mixing it up between chicken and steak. One of the family hits was chicken beast stuffed with a tiny amount of cream cheese, peppers, spinach mixed with some cajun seasoning. You can add tons of variety with spics just read the labels before you use a prepackaged seasoning, I mix my own typically.
Eating Out
We did and do eat out. Life didn’t stop while we were detoxing and if we had plans we still went. Eating out we picked grilled entrees like chicken, steak, or fish and subbed the starchy side for a roasted or grilled vegetable and a side salad. It really wasn’t as difficult as it seemed it would be, but can be more expensive with all the subbing and adding. You are also super limited on “quick” food. Side salads are always more expensive than a potato unfortunately. We had to watch what sauces and dressings came with on our food and salad, but it was easy to find something suitable.
Every other night I have been drinking my clean tummy tea and really like it. It tastes great and now my go-to way to relax before bed! I will now be switching to the tummy repair tea for the next 10 days and then start back with my tummy clean tea, I honestly like it that much!
What I Struggled With
The first week I really struggled with not feeling well. You can read that update here. After that I sort of got into a groove and didn’t find it as hard to commit. I went out of town for bachelorette party and thought I was going to just throw those days away, but I didn’t do TOO BAD. Now I wasn’t perfect, but I found small substitutes. I limited my drinks to a minimum and read menus carefully. Yes, I had some alcohol, but I chose the least sugar option and skipped any and all sweet treats. That includes sugary sodas for drinks and mixers!
It has been hard to meal prep and commit to eating this way with a normal busy life. Making dinners and eating early has been an issue for us since my husband works late and I find it hard to get dinner ready with a crazy toddler running under my feet, but I did make it work all week. Eating out was hard, I wanted french fries, a glass of wine and just a simple piece of bread that they had on the table, but I made it work everywhere we went always had a great meal. We went to Universal Studios a few times and I went out of town, which was the hardest to find cleaner food. I found a simple salads and made it work. It was HARD, but it is doable! I found it easier to plan in advance where and what I was going to eat rather than searching for food.
