Last November I purchased a Wifey sweatshirt to wear the day after our winter wedding. I love it so much and once it was summertime I was sad to put it away for winter. Once we booked our honeymoon, I new I wanted a Wifey tank top. There are so many adorable wifey tank tops out there. This time instead of buying another one off Etsy, I decided to make my own for less than half the cost! If you’re not married or engaged, this can be a perfect gift for a friend’s engagement party or shower.
I made this project with my Cricut. If you don’t have one you can either buy a vinyl iron on off one from one the many Etsy or buy iron on letters from a local craft store and still make your own tank. **This post contains affiliate links. Designing the Wifey
After a week of amazing all-inclusive eating in Mexico, we needed a little detox coming back from our honeymoon. I didn’t want to do anything drastic. I just needed to do something to get back into a healthier lifestyle. This cabbage soup is low in calories. It
is loaded with yummy vegetables to help you naturally get to a healthier you.
I based this off a traditional diet cabbage soup. I kicked it up a notch by using bone broth to add additional nutrients into it and loaded up on the veggies for a natural detox. The week following our trip I limited my starches, cut out dairy, (more…)
I am so excited to announce The Pike’s Place will be running at the Walt Disney World Wine & Dine Marathon Weekend this fall. This will be my first 10k and I have just started training. One of the many wonderful things about running a Disney event is the training courses offered online. Anyone can visit the RunDisney website and download the program, even if you aren’t doing a race! The Wine & Dine 10k training program is an 18 week course designed by Olympic athlete Jeff Galloway for Disney. It comes complete with a schedule and guide on how to train for any level runner. Technically, I should have started my training last week, but we were on our fantastic honeymoon. I started training this week instead.
You can follow along here or on our Instagram page as I train for the race. Keep an eye out for more race updates, a few DIY projects and of course a complete coverage of race weekend come November! Remember to keep going.
With all the recent news about mosquitoes, I thought it was important to bring a ton of bug spray with us to Mexico, just be on the safe side. Our honeymoon is finally here and we are currently soaking up the sun on a sandy beach. I know you can get bit just as easily at home as abroad, so this great little bug spray is perfect for a purse and made from ingredients that won’t harm the world. Follow us on a Instagram to see our trip live in action.
I bet you’ve heard a lot about essential oils by now. I don’t think we will get rid of all chemicals around us tomorrow, but in an attempt to live a more natural life, (more…)
Packing for a vacation is my least favorite part. I worry about, overthink it and then either over or under pack. Here is a list things I took on our honeymoon to Mexico. Pack things you think you may need. Even if you don’t wind up using them, you won’t waste a second of your trip searching for antacids, toothpaste, or a band aide. In addition, the markup at the gift shop for those items will make you very angry once you realize you can buy the travel size at home for less than a dollar. Bonus Tip: Recently, my husband and I’s luggage was lost by the airline on our way to Europe. I will be carrying on as much as possible from now on, especially toiletries!
****Items with a star went in my carry on
- Travel documentation****
- Second form of ID or your license
- Printed confirmations for hotel, prearranged transportation, and prearranged activities (more…)
Off to honeymoon we go! Mexican sandy beaches, crystal azul waters, rich history and delicious food awaits us in the beautiful Riveria Maya. After an early flight, we will land in Cancun and drive down to one of the all inclusive resorts along the coast. We can’t wait to tell you all about our trip from where we stayed, played and dined to what we brought with us, including some DIY items such as the honeymoon tumblers we posted last week, and why we chose Mexico for our honeymoon. Follow us on Instagram @thepikesplace for live updates about the trip or check back here for full posts about our travels!
Adios y vio con dios!
The honeymoon is almost here and we are heading to an All Inclusive resort in Mexico! I can’t wait to lay out on the beach with my hubby margarita in hand! After reading tons of reviews about all inclusive resorts, I decided it was a good idea to bring along a tumbler to keep beverages cold while laying poolside/beachside at the resort. I’m a big water drinker, but I hate warm water. If I needed to order 10 cups of water at once and fill up my tumbler to keep it cold in the sun, I would do so in heartbeat. I decided custom tumblers were a must! *This post contains affiliate links. If you purchase after clicking on one of these links, we will be compensated.*

Quick and simple is always my moto for dinners. I use what I have on hand and hardly ever make anything in advance, unless of course it’s in a crock pot. Tomato with basil and balsamic vinegar is one of my favorite things. When I stumbled upon some fresh local tomatoes I new I had to make this dish. With it being 4th of July weekend, there hasn’t been much time to plan out dinner and make a huge meal. This is a 30 minute meal (more…)
