Provincial Belle Running Costume

by

Provincial Belle runDisney Race CostumeProvincial Belle is a fun easy to put together running costume. Running in runDisney races has become a true passion, okay maybe an addiction, of mine. I was hooked after my first 5k and quickly upgraded to a 10k just the following fall! For my second race, I had to wear one of the fun costumes I saw on the race course at the 5k. I came up with the idea of doing Provincial Belle because I was running at the runDisney Wine & Dine 10k and that weekend has the Lumiere challenge, which made me think of Belle. The costume was super fun to put together and I even decided to make my own skirt and apron. You can easily buy these items if you don’t want to sew them like I did!

Provincial Belle Costume Basics

One of the reasons I picked Provincial Belle race costume was because it didn’t involve tons of pieces and I didn’t need to carry anything. I’m just not one of those people that can run holding things. Here is the basic list of what you’ll need for this costume. A link to the tutorial I used to make my skirt is below.

  • Blue Running Top – I already owned champion brand workout tank top from Target
  • Large Blue Ribbon – I used a wire ribbon I purchased from JoAnne’s
  • Blue Running Skirt – I made this, link to tutorial below
  • Apron – I also made this, tutorial below
  • Running Shorts – I wore black running shorts, also already owned and from Target

That’s it! You can find lots of blue running skirts and skorts online if you don’t want to make your own.

Belle’s Hair

For my hair, I parted my hair in the middle, then twisted a small section of hair back on either side of my head and secured with bobby pins. Then I put all my hair into a low ponytail and added the large bow. I used about a can of hairspray and tons of bobby pins to keep it in place.

Running Skirt

I will start with the fact that I am a basic sewer. I can make pillows, drapes, sew hems, basically, I can sew straight or straightish lines. If I can make this skirt and apron, so can you! Once I decided it would be much cheaper to make a skirt than buying one, I went online. I read about a million tutorials about making a running skirt and decided this one was the best by Moms RUN this Town.

The main difference between her skirt and mine is that mine is not a sparkle skirt. I used a sparkly spandex fabric instead. (It was pretty 80s and since the race, I’ve used the skirt for an 80s party!) Anyways, my fabric was slightly different and stretchy therefore after taking my measurements and cutting the skirt my skirt turned out HUGE! I had to resew it and I added a fun little ruffle in the back. It still turned out great, so if you mess up the first time and have to redo it, no worries! You can’t recut once you’ve cut, but you can undo the seams and improvise!

DIY Apron

The Apron was extremely simple to make. I took a piece of white cotton fabric that fit wrapped my body (with room to spare to tie it in a bow) and cut it into the shape of an apron. Basically, it’s a T with thin arms and a really really thick bottom. I hemmed the seams, but you could easily get away without doing this.

Provincial Belle runDisney Running SkirtRunning in runDisney races is so much and having a costume just adds to that fun! I love seeing what everyone else comes up with and even when you see someone dressed as the same character as you, it’s really fun to see what they did! I’m not running the Wine & Dine this year due to the fact I’m due with a baby the day after the race, BUT you better believe I will be running Disney again soon and I can’t wait to design my next outfit!

Peter Pan Nursery

by

From just about the moment we found out we were pregnant we wanted to do something special with our baby’s nursery. With my love of Disney, something using a Disney classic was likely in the cards, but we did want it to be something a little different. During my pregnancy, we went to see Finding Neverland and I came up with the idea that a Peter Pan Neverland nursery would be the cutest idea for a boy. We didn’t know what we were having at that point, but the minute we found I immediately knew we had to go through with that idea. We had so much fun putting together this room and I (more…)

Disney’s World of Pandora

by

I got the chance on Sunday of opening weekend to visit the new world of Pandora inside Disney’s Animal Kingdom theme park. There has been a lot of news about Pandora and how amazing it is. There has also been news that it is crazy crowded and will have huge wait times. I went and I survived without really having to wait at all. In this post, I’ll give you my advice, tips, and reviews to visiting the amazing world of Pandora.

Exploring Disney World's Pandora The World of Avatar

Getting into Pandora

We went on opening Sunday in the evening after dinner before dusk. After getting into the Animal Kingdom, we waited 10 minutes to get in the Pandora section. Yes, we had to wait to even enter the section of the park. We had fast passes for the Na’vi River Journey ride, (more…)

DIY Magic Band Decals

by

Whether you are planning your first trip to Walt Disney World or your 100th, you’ve likely seen or heard that Disney uses something called a Magic Band as an all in one source for your park ticket, room key, reservations, photos, fast passes and even a credit card to use on in park purchases. Basically, everything for your vacation is linked on this one little waterproof wristband.

If you book a stay at one of the Walt Disney World resorts your entire party will receive a magic band by mail at least 30 days prior to your vacation. You can also choose to buy your own magic band and Disney sells many different ones. I now have about 10 different magic bands. I like to make these personalized magic band decals with my Cricut die cut machine. They add a little personality and then I can tell my bands apart.

Make Your Own Vinyl Decals for Disney Magic Bands Decals with Cricut

The magic bands used for this project were the old style magic band. Around January 2017, Disney updated the magic bands and now uses a different style. This project will still work for the new style bands, but you may need to adjust the size of your decal accordingly.

There are many places you can buy vinyl decals such as Etsy if you do not want to make your own vinyl decals. I love any excuse to use my Cricut, so I make them for myself, friend’s, and family. This is a pretty (more…)

How to make a layered glitter vinyl decal for a water bottle

I previously posted how to make a princess monogrammed water bottle. My sister saw my post and wanted her very own water bottle. I decided to change the design and make her a Little Mermaid water bottle with layered glitter vinyl and use a glass water bottle. Glass can easily be used to apply vinyl. They are a wonderful alternative for those wanting to avoid plastic. In this post, I’ll show you how to make your very own layered glitter (more…)

Packing for a RunDisney Trip – Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

by

Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend is almost here! Everything is booked, the trip planning is complete, the race outfit is ready to go, my training is almost over. It’s time to start planning what I will pack. When it comes to packing, I either over pack by a substantial amount or I under pack by a substantial amount. I stress over every item I put in my bag and have nightmares that I forgot half of it. This stress is even worse when it comes to any of my Disney vacations. Packing for RunDisney events is no different. * This post may contain affiliate links, if you make a purchase after clicking these links we will be compensated.

What To Pack For A RunDisney Weekend

Packing for Wine & Dine Half Marathon Weekend

My packing list is quiet extensive, as I plan to have everything I could possibly need and them some. We are also staying at Disney from Thursday to Monday afternoon, so my list may be longer than you will need. I am flying Southwest with free checked bags. We use the Disney Magical Express. With this transportation service, Disney will deliver my bags to our hotel. This time around we will be staying at All Star Movies.

Every item you need to purchase upon arrival will cost you possibly triple the cost extra. For any Disney vacation a packing list is essential. I have included in this list what I will be (more…)

Walt Disney World Bachelorette Weekend

How to have an amazing Disney World Bachelorette Party How to have an amazing Disney World Bachelorette Party

Anyone that knows me can tell you that I love all things, Disney. As a very girly little girl, I loved princesses. Dressing up as Cinderella for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party at the Magic Kingdom is possibly my favorite childhood memory. When my husband and I got engaged there was only once place I could imagine having my bachelorette party, Walt Disney World. Disney World makes a wonderful destination for a bachelorette weekend. There is an abundance of things to do, more restaurants than you can count and if you haven’t been since you’ve been a child, you might be surprised to know there is plenty of nightlife. *This post may contain affiliate links, we will be compensated if you make a purchase after clicking on these links. Disney Dapper Day Outfit – Minnie Mouse Inspired

by

It was swell day that April afternoon when we went to Walt Disney World. Dapper Day is according to it’s creators website, “fashionable gatherings attended by over 30,000 well-dressed guests twice a year at the Disney Resorts in California, Florida, and France”. Most people and even avid Disney fans aren’t aware of Dapper Day. In my opinion, it’s is like stepping back in time at Disney. Where dapper men and women mix a Disney character and a time period and attend the parks all dolled up looking straight out of 1960 or whatever era they choose. This April I attended Dapper Day and finding the right outfit was a bit of a challenge. **This post contains affiliate links, if you make a purchase after clicking on those links we will be compensated. Go back in time with your favorite vintage outfit for Dapper Day at Disney World
My love of polka dots led me straight to creating my version of Minnie Mouse.

My first destination was *Mod Cloth. They have so many retro vintage look items. I wanted something 50s or 60s and after a little searching I found the perfect pink polka dot dress ON SALE. It had every element I was looking for. The petticoat I purchased t to go under it was also from Mod Cloth. I did order slightly off and messed up the delivery time and the sizing just little. On the Road to RunDisney

by

I am so excited to announce The Pike’s Place will be running at the Walt Disney World Wine & Dine Marathon Weekend this fall. This will be my first 10k and I have just started training. One of the many wonderful things about running a Disney event is the training courses offered online. Anyone can visit the RunDisney website and download the program, even if you aren’t doing a race! The Wine & Dine 10k training program is an 18 week course designed by Olympic athlete Jeff Galloway for Disney. It comes complete with a schedule and guide on how to train for any level runner. Technically, I should have started my training last week, but we were on our fantastic honeymoon. I started training this week instead.

You can follow along here or on our Instagram page as I train for the race. Keep an eye out for more race updates, a few DIY projects and of course a complete coverage of race weekend come November! Remember to keep going.
