I’m crazy about a good burger. I typically go for an old fashioned classic hamburger, but my husband loves cheeseburgers with all sorts of crazy toppings. On a rainy day when I was missing the summer sun, I decided to make a burger stuffed with cheese. One of these days the weather in the midwest is going to cooperate with me and we will be able to grill outside. Until then, my cast iron grill pan and I will be “grilling” away on our stove! Here’s a super easy dinner idea that anyone can make for a small or large party.

Grilled Cheese Stuffed Burgers - Easy Dinner Ideas, The Pike's Place

Cheese Stuffed Burgers (serves 4)
Ingredients:
1lb lean ground beef
1tbsp Salt Seasoning – I LOVE the salt blend I purchased from Old Town Spice Shoppe
1/4 cup shredded white cheddar cheese
4 Hamburger Buns
Burger Toppings – for us it’s lettuce, tomato, onion and on this day Avocado!

Burger Seasoning, Grilled Cheese Stuffed Burgers - Easy Dinner Ideas, The Pike's PlaceStart with heating up your grill or in my case cast iron grill pan over high heat. I like to coat my pan with a little olive oil. While the grill is heating make your burgers. In a medium sized bowl, place your ground beef and mix in your seasoning until they are evenly blended.Easy Burgers, Grilled Cheese Stuffed Burgers - Easy Dinner Ideas, The Pike's Place

Form your meat into patties and make a small indention in each one. I like to make 4 patties from 1lb of meat. You want a space big enough to add the cheese, but not large enough to make an actual hole in the burger. I’d say it’s similar to when you make a space to fill mashed potatoes with gravy. (I’m showing my southern ways with that one.)

You can add as much or as little cheese as you like, but you do want the top to be able to be closed up well enough so your cheese doesn’t ooze out when you grill them. I put about a tablespoon of cheese in my husbands burger and a teaspoon in mine.

Now add your stuffed cheeseburgers to your grill pan or grill. Grill your burgers for 3 minutes on one side, flip and then an additional 3-5 minutes, depending on how done you like them, on the second side. I like my burgers rare or medium rare, so 6 minutes is usually perfect for me. I know I’m crazy! My husband likes his medium-well and I leave his burgers on just a minute or two longer than mine.

If you like your hamburger buns toasted, like we do, turn off the heat and add the buns around the edges of the pan. While your burgers rest, let the buns toast.
